Afrofest
FESTIVAL REBRAND
Afrofest is the largest free African music festival in North America, celebrating culture in an inclusive, vibrant and exciting atmosphere full of rhythm, dancing, art, cuisine, musical instruments, marketplaces and more! Their existing look and feel was cold and lifeless, resembling a club promotion as opposed to the festival’s colorful, family-friendly essence.
My bilingual rebrand aims to communicate the above by creating the feeling of people coming together as a community– celebrating, appreciating and learning about the diverse culture of Africa. Inviting characters, vibrant colors, movement and illustration are used to represent the fun atmosphere and all Afrofest has to offer.

Fun & fluid poster & web design using color to distinguish between languages on print, & toggle on web.
Long-scroll landing page guides viewers through the areas of Afrofest, using organic color block dividers. Friendly speech bubbles & characters provide helpful information, inviting guests to learn more.
Imperfect "hand-drawn" lettering, bold colors, and confetti combine to create a wordmark that embodies movement, rhythm and celebration– the essence of Afrofest.
Lively illustrated characters represent Afrofest's atmosphere & 5 main attractions: the Music Stage, Youth Stage, Drum Stage, Marketplace & Creative Village. Their effortless hand-drawn style reinforces a friendly & familiar feeling.
An interactive & informational pamphlet with a detachable festival map & activities. Each end starts with English or Swahili & meets in the middle.
Created by saddle-stitching 2 booklets to a long fold-out.
Social media filter & cardboard cut-out invites festival goers to snap & share their experience in a fun way.
